Free Money for implementing Green Deal measures

Thank you to Energy Efficient Widcombe Volunteer Jon McChesney for this really useful information …

Good news for everyone who had a Green Deal report carried out by EEW last year! The government has put aside a pot of £120 million that has to be spent on energy efficiency improvements in domestic properties. To put it in basic terms – the government is giving away money, and anyone who has had a Green Deal Report completed on their property can apply!

Up to £1000 can be claimed for measures such as a replacement boiler or cavity wall insulation, whilst up to £6000 can be claimed for having solid wall insulation carried out. Please see the full list of improvement measures that are available here – http://gdorb.decc.gov.uk/admin/documents/Consumer%20Quick%20Guide.pdf

In order to apply, you must:

1. Check your EPC/Green Deal report to see that there are measures available for your house

2. Contact a local Green Deal installer to secure a quote for the work. List of installers are here – http://gdorb.decc.gov.uk/certification-body-search

3. Then finally, apply for your voucher from the government here – https://energy-saving-home-improvement-fund.service.gov.uk/

Once you have received your voucher from the government you then have 6 months to get the work carried out to claim the money back.

There is only a limited amount of money in this pot, so make sure you apply quickly! Just to reiterate – this money is being given away! For full details of the scheme, please see here – http://gdorb.decc.gov.uk/installers/green-deal-home-improvement-fund
