Green Deal follow up

Thank you for taking part in CSE’s, ‘Our Green Deal in Somerset’. We hope your Green Deal Advice Report has been useful in identifying the best ways of improving the energy efficiency of your home.

The purpose of this is to outline your options for taking forward any of the recommended Green Deal improvements identified in your report.  If you would like any further advice on what to do next, please call CSE’s Home Energy Advice Line 0800 082 2234  (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm, free of charge a landline).

  • Once you have received your Report and considered which of the recommended measures are right for you, the next step is to contact an accredited Green Deal Provider. These are listed on the official website of the Green Deal Oversight and Registration Body:  www.greendealorb.co.uk/providers. The Provider’s role is to arrange for the work to be done and provide access to Green Deal finance. At present, however, none of the Providers are able to offer access to Green Deal finance because the government is still finalising the process for making loans repayable through domestic energy bills. The latest information we have is that this should be resolved by late April.

  • If you don’t want to wait until then, or if you’re able to finance the measures by other means (e.g. by dipping into savings or arranging an additional loan though your mortgage provider) then we suggest you contact one or more local Green Deal accredited installers from the list shown here:http://www.ourgreendeal.net/green-deal-installers and arrange for them to quote for the work you would like carried out.  Subject to your circumstances and the kind of measures you choose to have installed, you might be able to access ECO funding via a Green Deal installer, so reducing the amount of your own capital or loan finance you need to invest. ECO funding might be available for solid wall insulation even before Green Deal loan finance becomes available

Here at CSE, we’re working hard to keep track of the latest developments in the Green Deal and ECO, including new customer offers as they become available. Please keep an eye our website (www.cse.org.uk/advice) for the latest news as it emerges.

If you have any immediate queries, or would like further advice on your options for making the most of your Green Deal Advice Report, please call the Home Energy Advice Line 0800 082 2234.
